Black is a very elegant colour which is associated with a minimalism in glamour style. It is also an exceptionally universal colour, an interesting, strong accent in the interiors. When choosing black, you have to bear in mind a few important rules. We suggest what to do to make black look perfect in a kitchen without overwhelming the space.
Black floor? – elegance with a tendency to get dirty
When choosing black furniture, home appliance or interior design you must remember that dirt will be more visible on black when compared to other colours. It concerns particularly high-gloss elements. Therefore, for example, smooth, black floor tiles are a good choice only when we rarely use the kitchen. Otherwise, patterned tiles or tiles in a different colour will be better.
Black ceiling? – only in tall kitchens
Black colour optically lowers rooms. Therefore, ceilings in low interiors should be painted white or other lightening shades. They will be contrasted with black pendant light, preferably those with glossy lampshades.
Black glossy fronts? – light it well
Light, both natural and artificial will be nicely reflected in glossy fronts of cupboards and kitchen ware. So if we play it well with lighting, we can easily enlarge optically a black room
Various black textures? Definitely yesk
Black has many names. Apart from smooth finishing, there are also various textures available (matt and gloss), decorated with greys or even gold. They add a beautiful variety to uniform patterns, catching the eye of household members.
Black and orange? Don’t be afraid of bold combinations
Classic black makes a perfect combination not only with white or red, but also with shades of vivid green or strong orange. You can easily select, for example, orange cupboard fronts to a
black sink. A combination of black with natural wood or brick walls would look equally interesting.
