Nature, colour and time in a bathroom

Trends and Inspirations

You do not enter the same river twice. It’s a fact. Each time, the return to the old interior design trend will be slightly different. Once the walls and floors were covered with panelling, and the interiors were filled with wood. Today – accents, imitations, subtle connotations. However, fashion is still looping-the-loop. So why there is so much sympathy for a natural, noble raw material?

Nothing brings as much warmth to the interior as wood. It is irreplaceable if we want to make sure that our home does not lack cosiness and a charming atmosphere. The colour, evoking positive associations, beautiful knots and cracks masterfully created by Mother Nature. Not quite carefully, not necessarily according to a schedule, but certainly impressive. Popular beech, majestic mahogany, stylish wenge, exotic teak, elegant veneer. Yes, wood is suitable, both for rooms arranged in a traditional style and for those with a modern look. Always safe, on time, close to nature, and therefore everywhere where we are looking for relief and relaxation. For example, in a well-arranged bathing space.

A wooden console with a washbasin and a countertop mixer are an absolute hit of the last months. Fittings such as Alea, with slightly streamlined shape, or Raila, available in three colour versions: chrome, black and white. The coolth of the second one perfectly corresponds to the warmth of wood. The use of natural raw material will make the bright bathroom with a white finish become less sterile. Wood and black fittings? A perfect base for an interior maintained in an industrial style. The bowl-shaped washbasin will also look good on a counter, based on steel legs- for example, on an old sewing machine table. A chest of drawers will also work well in this role. Not new from the store, but an old one, with history. If we are not too limited by the available space, we can introduce to the bathroom some home furnishing items, which are normally associated with other rooms, such as elegant dressing table or a stylish, comfortable armchair.

Wood in the bathroom can occur in a larger format – on a ceiling, on a single wall next to the shower or as a step stool. It is also often used as a material for bathtub casings. Because of the presence of water, and hence the variability of temperatures and high humidity, you need to remember about choosing the right species, as well as about the proper impregnation. A good solution is also the use of ceramic tiles imitating a natural raw material. On the market you will find a wide selection of deceptively similar materials- often with grains and in warm tones. The use of the same tiles on the floor and, at least, one wall, in a composition with white, will visually enlarge the arranged space. If we want to save some additional space, we can resign from a traditional shower tray and use a linear floor drain. A glass cabin or a transparent walk-in door may be very helpful. Among the available Laveo linear drains we can find: Slim with mild design and Basso - a discreet drain with the possibility of filling it with a “wooden” floor tile.

Except for wall and floor panelling and furniture in the bathroom, there are also wooden accessories. A mirror in a beautiful, antiqued frame will add authenticity to the interior and deepen its classic character. Such a mirror will perfectly fit in rustic, Scandinavian, shabby-chic, eco or hi-tech spaces. Bamboo toothbrush cups, capacious cosmetic boxes, a shelf for a book or a glass of wine, placed on the edge of a bathtub, will bring order and a unique atmosphere in the bathroom for a long time.
