Tidiness in the bathroom.

PORZĄDEK W ŁAZIENCE

All household members use the bathroom. Since this room also plays the role of a laundry room, often a drying room, sometimes a playroom, daily of a hairdressing salon, of a makeup studio and relaxation area in many bathrooms, the scenery after morning hygiene activities looks something like this - here lies a loose tube of toothpaste without a cap, all toothbrushes have landed in one cup, a hair dryer is hanging on a radiator, open cosmetics are stacked wherever, carelessly hung, damp towels form a damp colorful pile, clothes, pajamas and bathrobes hang wherever they can, dried stains of water, lotions, etc. spoil floors and furniture.

Untidiness in a bathroom creates favorable conditions for the growth and rapid multiplication of microbes and mold. Moisture and heat make a bathroom an ideal habitat for over two hundred types of viruses and bacteria, such as: Escherichia coli, salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Untidiness in the bathroom is also an obstacle in daily routines. For example, it is difficult to go into a bathroom and quickly style your hair when everything is in a wrong place. In addition, for some people mess and untidiness works like a proverbial rag to a bull.

The answer is simple - a bathroom should be regularly ventilated, cleaned and disinfected. Many of us here will think: "worse with the execution.”

VENTILATING

A very important aspect here is to ensure proper ventilation in the room. If there is a window in the bathroom, you need to open it even when it is raining or cold outside. If there is no window, make sure that the ventilation grids are clean. The second important step that is worth implementing in order to prevent dampness in the bathroom is to dry towels properly and change them regularly.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTING

The ideal situation of course is when each of the household members gets into the habit of putting items back in the right place. The situation is ideal and not impossible, we would say, rather possible to be achieved. All you need is time and persistence. The thought that should guide us all is: "Leave the bathroom as you would like it to be found." At the beginning, it is worth introducing a few rules that would make it easier to keep the bathroom clean and not require too much effort:

  1. First, close the toilet lid, and only then flush the water in the toilet - this sequence will allow to keep the floating water particles with bacteria in the toilet.
  2. The growth of health-threatening bacteria and viruses will be prevented by frequent washing and disinfection of the toilet bowl (daily, preferably in the evening, spread a disinfectant on its surface), bathtub and shower (after each bath), wash basins and bathroom faucets.
  3. Regular change of towels, sponges and toothbrushes will prevent the growth of microorganisms and the transmission of diseases. Items used in the bathroom, such as toothbrush cups or soap dishes, also require regular cleaning.
  4. After each use, towels should be hung in such a way that the entire surface can dry.
  5. Order in the bathroom could be enhanced by the regular control of cleaning products and cosmetics - it is worth checking the level of content and expiry dates to carefully plan your purchases and avoid stuffing, for example, five Domestos detergents in a cupboard or behind a toilet bowl.
  6. With regular cleaning, you should also remember to clean such things as the door handle, light switch and toilet flush button.

If we plan a bathroom renovation, the selection of products can also be verified in terms of ease of cleaning, e.g.:

1. A great help in keeping the bathroom clean is the so-called rimless toilet bowl, because the rim in the old-style bowls is a perfect place for the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. See Desna bowl model.
2. Another patent for maintaining hygiene is the toilet bowl with the quick-release toilet seat which makes it possible to wash it under running water, e.g. in the shower, and attaching it back with just one click. See Desna toilet seat model.
2. Bathroom fittings in chrome finish are easier to keep clean than those in black finish, the surface of which we have to consistently and regularly wash from the very beginning of usage in order to prevent water limescale from building up.
3. For those who prioritize hygiene above all else, a sensory washbasin faucet that is activated by a photocell will be a good proposition. Thanks to this, we do not touch the lever, thus reducing contact with germs, but we also do not leave traces of soap and water on it, as in the case of a standard mixer tap.
4. It is certainly easier to clean a fully tiled shower with a linear drain installed than to scrub every nook and cranny of a shower tray.

It happens in some households that there is a pet whose bed or litter box is placed in the bathroom. In this situation a bathroom is bound to get messy easily, so the determination to keep the room in order should be greater. The bathroom floor should be cleaned of hair, food bits, litter or excrement every day.

It is easier to maintain tidiness and order in the bathroom when the room is properly furnished and equipped with carefully selected accessories.

FURNITURE

Bathroom furniture should be made of materials that are intended for bathrooms and equipped with functional cabinets and drawers. At the stage of arranging or modernizing the interior, it is worth considering what functions the room will fulfill and then choose an amount of furniture that will allow us to move freely, and at the same time hide what should not be left on top. The fewer nooks and crannies we create during the furnishing, the better, hence, suspended furniture is an ideal solution. Dust collects in corners quickly, mold is formed, and cleaning such places is not easy. Especially when we check them only from time to time.

ACCESSORIES

Many of us dream of a bathroom which looks like a bathing parlour, so in some bathrooms we can find woolen bathroom rugs, thick curtains, elements and items made of materials that are not suitable for a damp and warm room. The less things we have in the bathroom on which steam, pathogenic bacteria, viruses, fungi or mold can set and grow, the better.

It is worth considering to equip the bathroom with:

  • a soap dispenser - placing your hand under the dispenser prevents soap and water from splashing and creating dried-on stains on the counter-top,
  • towel rails - standing or screwed to the door or wall, they will allow the fabric to dry out. If there are children in the house, it is worth considering to lower towel rails so that they can pick up good habits as well,
  • a trash can - creating the possibility of throwing rubbish into the trash can in the bathroom, instead of going to the kitchen with it ( the so-called "I'll throw it out later") is a very good patent for keeping the room in order,
  • a laundry basket - clothes that need to be washed have their designated place instead of hanging and lying on a radiator, chair, washing machine or a cabinet,
  • organizers for drawers and cabinets - inserts, dividers, baskets, containers allow us to segregate bathroom items and cosmetics, to arrange them logistically (a container with brushes and combs close to the mirror) and to make sure they return to their designated place faster.

Statistically, we spend about two years of our lives in the bathroom. Contemporary trends in interior design make it possible to arrange a dream bathroom in even a small room, turning it into a real gem. But what will remain of these dreams when the bathroom becomes a mess? That depends on us and our household.
