Home furnishing styles have changed considerably over the recent years. However it was assumed that the most modern and timeless are Scandinavian and classic styles. An interesting solution and trend in home furnishing is japandi style, so combination of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics. You may ask what Japan and Scandinavia have in common? Well, most of all they have timeless simplicity and respect to nature in common.

Japandi are mainly toned colours, shades of beige, green, austere materials, often based on timeless white. Characteristic feature for this style is a considerable colour contrast, whereas the basis are neutral walls and warm colours of minimalistic interior design additions. Strong emphasis is put on glazings intended to provide access of natural light for plants which perfectly fit in an extraordinarily eclectic space. An interesting principle of furnishing according to japandi style is a selection of furniture which should be set quite low, closer to the ground. Low coffee tables, spreading sofas and other furniture on slender legs will create a light and elegant space. Japandi style, owing to principles of furnishing in minimalistic trend, using white base of walls, allows to obtain a larger space. An additional indispensable element is the use of wood in any form, as furniture, shelves or interesting wall decorations.

How should a bathroom in japandi style look like?

A bathroom in japandi style is a place which should be in harmony in all respects with other rooms of dwelling. As in the whole rest also here bright, toned colours of nature should be on top, which in combination with wooden additions create a perfect space for relaxation. It is worth considering additions made of natural materials, though still keeping in mind that the less the better. What to avoid in japandi style?

Because japandi style can be characterised by simplicity and comfort keep in mind principles which can disturb it. It is not recommended that strong, vivid colours prevail, both on the walls and in form of additions. The point is to avoid heavy furniture, colour pillows or multi-colour additions in strong colour scheme. It is not advisable that space where you stay is surrounded by too many knick-knacks also on walls as such type of luxury and unnecessary varieties can have an opposite effect, while you want it be harmonious and eclectic. Additionally, lack of light, natural in particular, can create a place where you would feel irritated.
