Frequently Asked Questions

What is a water connection?

Water connection is an indispensable element of installation with built-in shower mixers which serves as a connection between the shower hose and a concealed installation. Water connection can be in two forms – standard or with a handle for a hand shower.

I bought an upright mixer and my hydraulic conncetion is far away from a skin, and the mixer connecting hoses do not reach it. What to do?

There are two solutions – the easiest one: buy hoses of a sufficient length, or: use nipples by means of which you can connect two sets of hoses.

Which mixer head is better 35 cor 40 mm?

When choosing between the two types, you cannot choose the better and the worse one. Both are of identical quality and functionality, the difference is their size. In mixer taps with wide, massive bodies – due to their dimensions – the bigger heads (40 mm) are more often installed, and in mixers of smaller size, the smaller heads are installed (35 mm). This is the only difference between them, and it does not have an impact on the quality of use.

What does an acoustic group and flow class of a mixer mean and what are the most recommended ones in the case of particular models (bathtub, sink, shower, kitchen sink)?

The flow class means the speed of water flowing through the mixer head which has an impact on the type of stream (wide or narrow) water will flow from the mixer. In the case of a bathtub mixer, the flow class must be higher (B, S) because with a too narrow stream filling a bathtub would take a few hours. In the case of a sink mixer, it can be much lower which also supports water saving (A, Z). As far as the acoustic group is concerned, it is a volume level of a mixer – I means it is silent, and II – louder.

What contributes to water saving when it comes to the function of the fittings?

In the case of mixer taps, the flow class contributes to water saving – the flow class indicates the size of a water stream coming from the spout, and aerators. It is worth checking whether a mixer has an aerator at the end of its spout – information on its presence are generally provided by producers on the packaging or in assembly instructions. In the case of Laveo, it is marked on the packaging with an international symbol “water saving”.

What is the warranty period for Laveo mixers and what does the warranty cover?

Laveo mixers are covered by an 8-year warranty for water-tightness of housing and head. The warranty for connecting hoses, gaskets, aerators or other elements of mixers is 2 years.

When an ordinary mixer is the better and when a thermostatic one? What does its installation depend on?

The functionalities of both types of mixers do not differ in principle and are applied both in houses with a connection to urban heating networks and to own water heating system. However, the merit of a thermostatic mixer is the possibility to set a single water temperature which, regardless of all, will be constant for the whole time of its use. Due to the possibility to set a constant temperature, e.g. 38 degrees Celsius, it is particularly recommended for families with small children or the elders because of the possibility to minimise the risk of scalding.

If a concealed mixer fails, does it mean that I will to hammer the wall in order to replace it?

No, on condition that at the moment of installing the concealed set, an opening in the wall was made which allows for a revision for maintenance purposes. It is usually a tile fixed with a magnet or other form of fixing that allows for opening, placed next to the mixe.

What does the Laveo mixer set include apart from the mixer?

All Laveo mixers are equipped with connecting elements necessary for hydraulic installation. Additionally, each basin mixer has a basin plug (usually a click-clack model).

What should I pay attention to when choosing a sink mixer?

When choosing a sink mixer, one must consider three basic elements: lack /presence of a dishwasher, the depth of the sink bowl, and the location of the sink. The sink installed by a window must be fitted with a foldable mixer, so that is would not interfere with opening the window. For a sink with deep bowls, you can select a mixer with a lower body. It is recommended that users who do not have dishwashers or deep bowls in their sink buy mixers with a high body in order to wash freely bigger objects or a larger number of dishes.

What is the application of a medical mixer tap?

Medical mixer taps are dedicated mainly for healthcare facilities. Due to their very long lever, it allows for closing the water flow with an elbow in order to maintain the sterility of washed hands without getting into contact with the fittings.

Do all mixers have the certificate of the National Institute of Hygiene (PZH certificate)?

Yes, all Laveo mixers have a certificate of the National Institute of Hygiene which permits for the mixers to be in contact with food.

What is a thermostatic mixer?

A thermostatic mixer is equipped with a special head which enables to set a fixed water temperature, usually 38 degrees Celsius or another one ensuring thermal comfort. This solution allows the mixer to reach the desired temperature in a short time from opening the stream of water without the necessity to manually adjust it each time. It is recommended for families with small children or the elderly because it limits the risk of scalding for the user of the mixer.

How to ensure a long-term and correct operation of a thermostatic mixer?

For this purpose, you should use the full range of water temperature at least once or twice a month. To do so, turn on cold water for about 2 minutes, then turn on hot water for another 2 minutes, and then return to the setting of 38°C. Apply the same procedure to the function switch.

What is the difference between a click-clack plug and automatic plug?

When it comes to their function, it is the same, and they are used to close the water outlet in the basin bowl. However, they differ in the method of operation. An automatic plug is equipped with a band which is in the mixer body and requires mechanical operation – pulling and pushing in order to close/open the water outlet. And click-clack plug does not have a direct connection with the mixer. It is closed/opened by pushing it with a hand in the basin bowl.

Installing filters for upright and wall-mounted mixer taps – is it necessary?

Yes, it is necessary. Filters protect mixer taps from unwanted dirt that could damage the mixer tap cartridge and ceramic discs inside it. For upright mixer taps, angular connectors with a filter are recommended, and for wall-mounted models – seals with a filter.

How and how often does an aerator have to be cleaned?

An aerator must be cleaned once in two months. In order to do this, you have to close the water outlet, unscrew an aerator and rinse it well, and if it is very dirty or covered with limestone, you should brush it gently.

How to remove quite durable and stubborn to remove limestone from the fittings so as not to damage it?

In order to remove persistent dirt, you should spray the dirty spot with a Laveo preparation and leave it for 15 minutes to get into the structure of the dirt and dissolve it. You can also remove the dirt by wiping the mixer body with a cloth soaked in water with vinegar diluted in a ratio of 1:1.

What is the best cleaning the fittings?

The wide range of Laveo preparations includes a preparation specially designed for cleaning the fittings. You can replace it with cleaning agents which can be usually found in most households, and the one that performs well in terms of cleaning and having a gentle effect on chromium coating of a mixer is dishwashing liquid. Remember that you should not clean the fittings with a metal sponge or a coarse sponge to prevent from scratching the surface.
